Bihar's post-bifurcation landscape presents a unique opportunity to revitalize its vocational training infrastructure. The state's current stock of 29 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) primarily offers traditional trades, falling short of the diverse skill sets required by an emerging industrial economy.

To address this disparity and enhance employment opportunities, a comprehensive overhaul of the vocational training system is imperative. Key challenges include rigid training structures, a shortage of qualified instructors, outdated equipment, and weak industry linkages. These deficiencies have resulted in a mismatch between the skills of ITI graduates and the demands of the job market.

To rectify these shortcomings and position ITIs as centers of excellence, the Central Government has initiated a strategic upgrade. This initiative aims to equip ITIs with modern machinery, attract highly qualified instructors and foster stronger collaborations with industry. By addressing these critical areas, the government seeks to ensure that vocational training in Bihar effectively prepares its workforce for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
